In other words, you can control your sighs, which control your energy, Move the brush accordingly. Samurai calligraphy is meditation through art.

Course Overview:
This course is designed for absolute beginners and experienced practitioners alike.
Across 5 weeks, you will:
- Learn the foundations of Samurai Calligraphy
- Understand how to unify breath, body, and brush
- Practice short daily exercises that strengthen inner calm
- Explore the five elemental energies through ink and movement
- Develop your own expressive calligraphy flow
- Experience a meditative path originating from Samurai training methods
Each week introduces one technique, which students are expected to practice throughout the week before moving on to the next one.

Weekly Practice Recommendation
This 5-week introductory program is structured so that each week you focus on practicing one essential element of Samurai Calligraphy.
Each lesson is pre-recorded, and after you train with Sensei in the lesson, we recommend that you dedicate the rest of the week to personal practice of that week’s element.
By following this structure, you will complete a progressive 5-week journey through the foundational principles of Samurai Calligraphy and the five core elements that shape this meditative art. This rhythm allows you to build consistency, deepen your technique, and cultivate the connection between breath (iki), energy, and brush movement.

Recommended Materials for the Samurai Calligraphy Course
To ensure a smooth and accessible start to your practice, we recommend the following basic materials, all of which can be easily purchased on Amazon. These items keep the entry cost low while providing everything you need to begin your training immediately:
1. Japanese Calligraphy Brush (Fude)
A simple beginner-level brush is sufficient. Any medium-sized fude used for shodō practice will work well.
2. Black Sumi Ink (Bottle Type)
We recommend bottled liquid sumi ink for convenience. It is clean, easy to use, and ideal for daily practice.
3. Standard Printing Paper
Regular A4 or Letter-size printing paper is perfectly adequate for beginners. No special rice paper is required at this stage.
